After being picked up from your Kayseri or Cappadocia hotel, soak up the scenery as you wind through the valleys of northern Cappadocia. The first stop of the day is at a viewpoint in Esentepe village, looking out over the rock-sculpted landscapes of Uchisar and Goreme below. After getting your first taste of Cappadocia's otherworldly topography, enjoy an even more thrilling vantage point as you climb to the top of Uchisar Castle, the gigantic rock that marks the region's highest point. Next, follow your guide on a walking tour around the UNESCO-listed Goreme Open-Air Museum, and discover Cappadocia's fascinating early Christian heritage as you peek into ancient rock churches, chapels and monasteries, all carved into the limestone cliffs. Let your imagination run wild as your guide points out the remains of stables, wine presses, and red ochre frescos, and try to imagine what life was life hundreds of years ago.
