This shore excursion is the perfect blend of adventure, culture and natural scenery during your short stopover on this beautiful Caribbean island.Begin the trip with a pickup at the cruise ship port in Saint Kitts, continuing to a local ATV shop where you'll rendezvous with your guide for the day. Get kitted out with a helmet and goggles and listen to a safety briefing and instructions to operate your off-road vehicle. Then hit the throttle and head into the Saint Kitts countryside.Trace the path of your guide as you start your trip, following a trail that's been tailored to the experience level of your group. You'll move more quickly or slowly based on how well the participants are handling the terrain. Riders of all levels of experience are welcome. Kick up a little mud as you wind your way along the rolling trails, zooming along lush sugar cane fields.As you drive you'll also pass a historic sugar plantation, at which point your guide will share insights about the history of the island's sugar industry. Continue riding until you reach the Wingfield Estate, located in the foothills of the island's central mountain range. This beautiful estate is set among a collection of beautiful gardens which host a wealth of plant life.Spend some time exploring the estate's 17th century relics, which were used in the manufacture of refined sugar and rum. Interestingly, the estate is considered the first English settlement in the Caribbean and was owned by an ancestor of US President Thomas Jefferson. Then motor your way to your last stop at Caribelle Batik, located just next door to Wingfield Estate. This textile center features the work of local artisans, who produce a special fabric called batik (a specially-dyed fabric in colorful patterns).
