ItineraryDay 1: JerusalemAfter pickup from your Jerusalem hotel in the morning, embark on a full-day tour of the city. As you'll learn today, Jerusalem is a spiritual sanctuary for the three great religions of the Western world: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.Begin with a panoramic view of the city from the Mount of Olives, a mountain ridge adjacent to the Jerusalem's Old City that named for the olive groves that once grew here. Then, enter the Old City to visit the Wailing Wall, Temple Mount, the Dome of the Rock and other important sights while learning about the history of the Old City, which dates back more than four millennia and is packed with important religious sites that draw visitors from every religious creed.Wander through the Jewish Quarter, Armenian Quarter and the recently restored Roman road of The Cardo by foot. Visit a bazaar and the Western Wall, or Kotel, and continue along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of Holy Sepulcher, also known as Church of the Resurrection. According to the Bible, this is where Jesus was buried and resurrected.Drive up to the hill of Mount Zion, located just outside the Old City walls. If you visit on Saturdays, you'll be able to visit the Hall of the Last Supper and David's Tomb. Starting from the Mount of Olives, visit the church of Dominus Flevit. According to popular belief, this is where Jesus wept as he foresaw the destruction of Jerusalem.Continue to the Church of All Nations in the Garden of Gethsemane and the Jewish cemetery in Kidron Valley. Then, enter the Old City through the Lion's Gate to see the pools of Bethesda on the grounds of the Church of St Anne (the mother of Mary). Your guide will teach you about the history of this fascinating city, which is touted as the oldest city in the world. It's the oldest Jewish settlement, founded in 8,000 BC, and was captured by Joshua and Israel in 1,200 BC. See the old sycamore tree that many believe Zacheus climbed to spot Jesus, and visit the Mound of Ancient Jericho, where 25 ancient cities were uncovered. Stop for a view of Mount Temptation to hear the story of how Satan tried to tempt Jesus, and learn about the oasis of Jericho and Elisha's Spring.Leaving Jericho behind, continue your tour into the Judean mountains to the city of Bethlehem. Believed to be the birthplace of Jesus and King David, Bethlehem is considered one of the most biblical sites on Earth. On your visit, witness the Church of the Nativity "” a UNESCO World Heritage site "” and the cave where Jesus is said to have been born. You'll also see Manger Square, where he was put after his birth, and the Milk Grotto, where Mary fed him when he was a baby. Explore the city's Greek and Catholic churches and stop at Shepherd's Fields before making your way back to Jerusalem for your last overnight stay.Overnight: 3-star hotel in JerusalemDay 4: Jerusalem "“ Lower Galilee "“ Jerusalem (B)This day trip takes you from Jerusalem to the region of Lower Galilee to see the famous sites of the Holy Land. Begin by traveling along Israel's scenic coastal plain via the plain of Armageddon to Nazareth, known as the Arab capital of Israel.Stop in Nazareth to visit the Church of Annunciation and the Church of St Joseph's carpentry, and then see the Mt of Beatitudes and Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish at Tabgha. Travel along the famous Sea of Galilee and see the ruins of the ancient synagogue of Capernaum.Your last stop is the site of baptism on the Jordan River overlooking Tiberias, where you'll be able to participate in an unforgettable baptismal service. After this enlightening experience, travel past Mt Tabor, the site of transfiguration, on the way back to Jerusalem.
