What To Expect

Meet your guide and small group of no more than 12 in Kotzia Square to begin your walking tour of Athens. Admire the square's neoclassical buildings, built in the early 18th century, and listen as your guide offers an introduction to historic Athens, before heading off to the Central Market. Browse the stalls of the lively local market, as your guide explains the different delicacies on sale, and get chance to taste Greek specialties like koulouri (round bread with sesame seeds), sweet pastries, feta and olives. Continue your culinary tour of Athens with a stop at a traditional Greek deli and sip a glass of Tsipouro (Greek brandy) as you get the inside scoop on modern life in Athens. Next, soak up the buzzing atmosphere of central Athens as you stroll through the busy streets to Monastiraki Square, home to the city's biggest flea market. There, you'll have chance to practice your haggling skills as you rummage through the vintage stalls and secondhand goods. After a short break to wander around the stalls or stop for coffee at one of the caf es around the square, hop on the metro to Panepistimio, where you'll meet back up with your guide for the second half of the tour.
